![]() I have been with the agency 6 years. I hold a Bachelors degree in Professional Aeronautics and a Masters degree in Human Resource Management. Kevin has 17 years finance experience as a Cost Accounting Manager and 24 years total as a Business, Operations and Human Resource Manager for The Boeing Company. Kevin has completed the National housing counseling training program and the foreclosure/loss prevention training sponsored and supported by Fannie Mae and by the NeighborWorks Center for Homeownership, Education and Counseling. Kevin received his official housing certification in January 2007 and his 2nd one in February 2010. Kevin recently completed the advanced residential lending and advance foreclosure certificate program through Neighbor Works. Kevin leads the Freddie Mac’s CreditSmart Financial Literacy program for the City of Wichita. Kevin has counseled thousands of individuals with credit problems and various housing needs. He has also conducted a number of homebuyer training workshops, fair housing workshops, housing fairs, CreditSmart workshops and small-group sessions. Kevin has also counseled thousands of customers on the landlord / tenants rights and responsibilities, lease and rental agreements, as well as available rent subsidy programs. |

![]() Nolanna Simon is the Urban League of Kansas NULITES Coordinator at North High School. She is a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) who feels passionate about helping couples, families, and youth work through various mental health and life adjustment issues. Nolanna attended Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, GA and went on to earn a masters degree in counseling psychology from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. She is currently finishing the last few requirements for a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. Nolanna spends most of her time working and caring for her family, but enjoys surfing the internet, going to the movies, and listening to Gospel, Jazz, and "Old School" music. She has been married for over 10 years and enjoys spending time and traveling with her husband and two beautiful children. |

![]() Tom Dort serves as the Chief Operating Officer for the Urban League of Kansas. Tom graduated from the University of Florida in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. He has worked in various technical and manufacturing management positions for 22+ years for Milliken & Co. and Polymer Group, Inc. His last position was VP and General Manager of the Fabpro Oriented Polymers Division of PGI, headquartered in Kingman, KS. He has significant experience in operational excellence techniques and was the leader for the global launch of the Swiffer ® dusting wipes program for PGI that supported Proctor and Gamble’s material requirements. Tom has been married to his wife, Mary, for over 24 yrs and they have two children – Andrew (19) and Sarah (18). Tom and his family have lived in Wichita for the past 6 yrs and are active members of their church. |

Gang Prevention, DYWTLOD Program
![]() David Gilkey is a gang prevention specialist who shares his life experiences of incarceration and substance abuse in order to help at-risk young men and women learn from his mistakes. His goal is to inform youth of the consequences of gang involvement, substance abuse, and negative attitudes and behaviors. David was the Wichita NAACP Person of the Year in 2008 and a co-presenter at the Governor's Conference for Juvenile Justice in 2009. Gilkey works in six area high schools, two middle schools, and one elementary school. He has been recognized as a vital asset to our community by the Department of Corrections, the Urban League of Kansas, the Center for Health and Wellness, Tabernacle Baptist Church, Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church, and St. Mark Methodist Church. Gilkey is a member of the Wichita Gang Coalition, Real Men Real Heroes organization. |

Youth Outreach, CLASS Program
![]() Lynn Gilkey has become a recognizable face to local teens in need. Lynn has been associated with the Regional Prevention Center of Kansas where she worked to educate youth about the consequences of drug and alcohol use. Lynn was once a recipient of services from Dress for Success of Wichita, a non-profit organization that promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire; most recently she was invited to New York City where she was awarded a national award for spearheading an Appreciation Day Banquet to pay tribute to more than 70 women who are often underappreciated in their professions. Currently, Lynn is employed with the Urban League of Kansas where she is able to execute her vision for a program she personally created - Caring Ladies Assisting Students (CLASS). CLASS is dedicated to helping at-risk teenage girls avoid going down the wrong road, a road Lynn knows all too well. After years of substance abuse Lynn turned her life around and enrolled in Butler Community College where she received her certification in substance abuse counseling. She now spends her time encouraging and motivating teenage girls in the Wichita Public School System to graduate high school and choose healthy lifestyles. |

![]() I do a variety of task relating to the finances of the organization. They are the following: Develop, maintain and manage all accounting reports including: financials, budget and cash flow statements for CEO and board of trustees. Develop, maintain and manage financial statements by program and grants for the yearly audit. Perform all daily and monthly accounting functions including: payroll, deposits, invoicing, payables, grant vouchers, bank and all account reconciliations and approval of expenditures. Prepare United Way and grant budget applications. Perform human resource functions, such as, maintain employee files, new hire paperwork, manage employee benefits, background checks, etc. My passions are spending time with family and friends, volunteering at church and shopping with the girls. |

![]() My job in the organization is to assist Hilda Davis, manager of programs and grant writer, teaching the Administrative Professional class held at the UL Community Learning Center. I am a graduate of Oct. - Dec. 2007 AP class; I then completed a 4-week work-experience program at the Learning Center. I opted out of the work experience program so that I could volunteer my time at the learning center assisting Stella Glover and Hilda Davis. Other positions I’ve held at the learning center were: Summer Facelift Crew Leader funded by City of Wichita and Facilitator/Bus Driver for the Youth Empowerment Program. I really enjoy working with the Urban League of Kansas. In my spare time I enjoy spending quality time with my grandchildren and computers. |

I also schedule clients for counseling sessions and data entry for the housing program. I have 3 boys and an English Mastiff that is my only daughter. I have been in a relationship with a loving man for 5 years. I love my job and helping individuals with their problems and helping clients succeed in their efforts to be prospective home owners, tenants and landlord. |

![]() Chester Daniel was born in Barbados, West Indies — a small island state in the eastern Caribbean. In 1982, Chester received a diploma in Marketing Management from the Barbados Institute of Management and Productivity (BIMAP). The following year, he immigrated to the United States and by the fall of 1984 was accepted as a freshman at Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from that institution in 1988. In 1991, Chester moved to Jacksonville, Florida. In 1992, he joined the Jacksonville Urban League (JUL). At the JUL, he held several positions, including Fair Housing Director and Director of Programs, Planning and Development. For the past ten years, he directed the JUL’s strategic planning and organizational development efforts, agency assessments, and reflective practice process. Most recently, he served as Vice President for Economic and Strategic Initiatives focusing on ways to sustain the agency through social entrepreneurial efforts. Never a person to rest on his laurels, Chester achieved several distinctions and accomplishments while at the JUL. He graduated with a Masters Degree from the University of North Florida; he received Housing Professional Finance Certification from the National Development Council; and, in 2006 earned first honors in the National Urban League Economic Opportunity Institute Social Venture Plan Competition at the Clark Atlanta University. Chester has a daughter, Alicia, age 19. |
