Our Strategy

Urban League of Kansas

The Urban League empowers communities and changes lives in Kansas by employing the following strategies:

  • Education and Youth Empowerment: Ensure youth are well-educated and equipped for economic self-reliance in the 21st century.
  • Family Empowerment: Improve the quality of life of youth and their families through innovative mental and behavioral health treatment, where barriers to success are broken down and all members develop the skills to grow and achieve their full potential.
  • Workforce Development: Assist people in achieving economic self-reliance through employment and training.
  • Housing & Economic Development: Empower all people in attaining economic self-sufficiency, an improved standard of living and eradicating barriers to equality.

Our housing center offers landlord-tenant and housing law counseling and classes on home-buying, credit, financing and refinancing. Our education programs include initiatives like NULITES and Project Ready that stimulate and empower young minds from underprivileged backgrounds. Our workforce center provides opportunities for minimal and no-cost job training to empower people from low-income situations and help them learn the language of self-sufficiency. Our psychosocial services provide mental and behavioral health treatment to children and adolescents suffering from Serious Emotional Disturbances (SED)
